There are a few different programs to run your LCD display. You may choose to use
the programs I use or you may want to use something else (or if your a programmer you can write your own scripts).
I'll give you a overview of the programs that I use.
This is the program that I use. Mainly because it displays everything I need displayed, and is easy to use.
The first thing your going to need to install is the PORT95NT Driver
from the Borderfield website. This driver is needed to run LCD Center using a LCD with a HD44780 controller.
Next install LCD Center
and run its configuration program from the the start menu.
Locate the LCD settings box on the lower right and set the settings the way I have in the the picture.
- Driver --- HD44780
- COM port --- it doesn't matter (for serial use)
- COM Speed --- it doesn't matter (for serial use)
- Rows --- (Vertical rows) 4
- Cols --- (Columns) 20
As you can see, LCD Center has built in plug-ins for WinAmp, Motherboard
Monitor, and POP3 mail accounts (NOTE: you must have WinAmp and MBM installed to use these functions). They have made this program very simple to use. Simply click on the variable you want to insert on the left, click the line.
For more documentation check out the borderfield website
Now Just save it, and run the LCD center program from the start
menu. Here's a look at the kind of info I have displayed on my lcd
