Epox 8KHA/L/+ Motherboard Review
-- Tuesday, January 22, 2002
The Bigger Picture
The difference between the 8KHA/L and the 8KHA+ is
the chipset. The + is running on the KT266A as opposed to the KT266.
Both are great in their own respect, but in the interest of saving
space, I will review those differences in a future article. The 8KHA/+ have a few more features as opposed to
the 8KHAL (light). It is basically same board, but with 1 fewer PCI
slot, among other things. I will be testing the 8KHA or as I like to call it, the happy medium. Besides subtle differences from the 8KHA/L to the +, the + might have slightly better results, so use my results as a jumping off point. Racers, start your engines Overclocking, as I
mentioned before, is very simplistic, and easier then the 8K7A series of
boards. Multiplier goes from 5.0 to 12.5 and the voltage goes up to
1.85. How well did the 8KHA stand up to pressure? Very well! I was able
to OC my 1.2 GHz Athlon up to 1.33 with no problems. All that with very
limited ventilation in my case is impressive. Here is the rig I
used for testing:
