Creative's SoundBlaster Audigy
--Continued -- Page 3
The
Software
I have never in my life seen a product with so much software bundled
with it! The complete list is as follows: Creative PlayCenter3,
Vienna SoundFont Studio 2.3, Arturia Storm Platinum Edition, FireNet
2.0, MixMeister 3.0, OOZic Reactor, Goldmine Demo, Recycle Lite, RemoteCenter, Surround Mixer,
Ulead VideoStudio 4.0SE Basic, and WaveLab-Lite. All, in my
opinion, are worthless. Except for the tools for editing the Audigy's
settings, the rest of this stuff is not needed. You might need the RemoteCenter for the remote
control and Firenet for the fire wire port. But other then
that, this stuff is all used for showing off the power of your Audigy.
It’s cool to mess around with, but it takes up space. Another
annoyance is that they take over your computer. Luckily you can disable
them all and easily be able to go in and adjust settings.
Conclusion
Creative has done it again, and I'm sure will keep doing it in the
future. The Audigy is head and toe above the rest when it comes to
features and out right quality. For gaming this card is light-years
beyond the rest. For High end musicians, this card can slug it out with
the best. For the average user, might be overkill, but with at $99 price
tag its certainly reasonable. I have to add my 2 cents here: when I
upgraded I had a Diamond s100. The second that I heard the first note
come out of my stereo I was blown away. Not only that but when someone
signed on AIM, it sounded like a jet engine just flew over my house. Now
that says something. If you want the clearest, crispest, and cleanest
sound, get an Audigy. With all the feature of the Audigy Drive, the over $200 price
tag is certainly not out of the question. This product definitely gets
the Sarge Seal of Approval.
